2021 RECIPIENTS
Rachel Iman
Emma McIntyre

Rachel is currently attending Longwood University in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. She knew she wanted to be an educator at a very early age with a goal of impacting the future of America, starting with its youngest citizens. Rachel is involved in many clubs at Longwood including Sigma Kappa, Delta Nu, peer mentoring, honor society, club softball, and many others. She has continued to be on the President’s list every year and maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Rachel recently found out that she was a recipient of a guaranteed teaching contract for Chesapeake Public Schools, once she finishes up her undergraduate degree.

Emma just finished up her high school career and will be headed to Christopher Newport University in the fall. Through childhood struggles, she endured teasing and bullying. That didn’t hold her back. She realized her self-worth and worked hard to become the captain of her cheer team and placed second at their biggest competition. Going through those trials and tribulations helped her decide to work on obtaining a master’s degree in counselling. She wants to take her experiences and help others grow from areas of their life that make them not fit into society’s mold of “normal”. In hopes, that one day, a child may understand that just because society may see you as different does not define your life’s outcome.
